| Notes |
PADI Rescue 3rd training dive. Subjects:
- Controlled ascent with unconscious diver from 10m without air supply on BCD.
- How to remove equipment.
- Surface push/tow of diver.
Learning points:
- With a completely deflated BCD from the other diver it is almost impossible to get such a diver lifted from the bottom, even at 10m. Although it should be prevented, inflation of the other divers jacket may be needed.
- Slow ascent is very important. During the ascent, keep track of ascent rate and almost constantly remove air from BCD during ascent.
- Approach the other diver from back. First keep regulator in mouth with right hand. Regulator in mouth is preferable, since it ensures the mouth is open during ascent.
- It is (again) important to understand how the gear of the other diver works, where the releases are etc etc.
- Integrated lead can be removed much more easy when the other diver is face down. If he/she is able to breathe, this is preferred.
Rest of dive we did a nice recreational dive. Visibility was good (up to 10m). Dive was a bit chaotic. Jeroen had problems to equalize his ears and Lex was searching for a lost piece of equipment (lost already quite some time ago). |
